The Rogers House

August 13, 2011: Chris and I left Rexburg at 5:00 am for our long trip to Iowa. 18 hours. We could do it in one day, right? Wrong. We decided it would be a lot safer if we stopped in Nebraska to sleep that night. Chris made reservations at this bed & breakfast just outside Lincoln and after about 15 hours in the car we arrived at 10:30pm.

Whenever I thought of a bed & breakfast I thought of a cute, cozy, little cottage where the people were super friendly and the service was great. This place changed my mind. During the day it wasn't as creepy as it was when we got there at night, but this place was the whole "scary movie" package. Old furniture, cobwebs, crickety stairs, antique pictures, etc. The house was built in 1909, so being over 100 years old, I think it had excuses for being the way it was. The lady at the front desk told us that in 1968 it was a fraternity house then 5 years later it was turned into a mental hospital. CREEPY!!

The main house.

The West House. This is where we stayed.

The stairs.

Our bedroom door.

The room. The pictures online were very deceiving. We thought we would be getting a big log bed, but instead we got a hard-as-rock wobbly bed.

The piano downstairs. Notice the lamp and the chandelier.

This was taken from the living room showing you the dining room.

This was a picture that was in our room.

The "light switch".

Breakfast in the morning.

The bathroom downstairs.

Oh yea, & this little guy was visiting us for the night.

All in all, it was a good experience. We now know to only stay in hotels, unless we've gotten good reviews of bed & breakfasts from other people. Good thing I didn't find out that it used to be a mental hospital until check-out. I wouldn't of gotten any sleep!

Whats Cookin' Wednesdays; Yogurt Chicken

Recipe browsing is one of my favorite things to do. I LOVE finding new recipes to try! I'm a pretty picky eater, so when I do find recipes that look good....I get pretty excited to try them. Today's recipe is one of those ones. I found the recipe here on thekrazycouponlady.com. They have a pretty good variety of yummy looking stuff.

Yogurt Chicken

Ingredients:
-1 (8 oz) vanilla yogurt
-Crushed Ritz crackers
-4-6 boneless chicken breast
-1/2 cup melted butter

1) Dip chicken in yogurt, then into the crushed ritz crackers.
2) Put into a 9x13 baking dish and drizzle with melted butter.
3) Cook at 350 for 40 minutes.

Super easy right?

Oh so thankful Tuesdays...8/9

1. Super good steals. Okay, so growing up I wasn't that big of hand-me-down fan. I didn't like thrift stores, I didn't like wearing other peoples stuff and I definitely wasn't thrifty. Being married, that has ALL changed. Its so different now being on my own and having to worry about finances. Anyways, what I'm getting at is I LOVE THE D.I. Here in Rexburg they have a really good one. I found a really nice suitcase the other day for $4.00. Now that's a steal!

2. $ .40 wing Tuesdays. Hubs & I love wings, especially Buffalo Wild Wings, and they taste even better when they're only 40 cents!!

3. I finally have my computer back. I know I've mentioned my computer a bazillion times, but this is the last. I just wanted you to know how thankful I am to finally have it back. Thank you Chris for letting me use yours the past two weeks.

4. Prayer. Ok, confession time. I have the hardest time remembering to say my prayers. I'll get in the habit of it, then forget it one night and after that my routine is all messed up. It's been a lot easier being married because we pray together but we're still not always good on remembering to do it. Lately we've been working really hard on remembering to do it tonight, and I am so thankful for that. Prayer strengthens our relationship.

 5. Scriptures. I have the same problem with remembering to read my scriptures too. I get in the habit, forget one night & its all messed up. We've been working on reading our scriptures every night as well. Last night I wasn't feeling well and just wanted to go to sleep but Chris kept the light on and made me read with him before I could go to sleep. I love you for that babe, thank you.

Date Night: 4

Friday night was Chris' night to plan our date night & I've never seen him be this creative before! It was a super fun date and totally original. I didn't take as much pictures as I would of liked to, but I will try my best to explain it.

He needed to get the date ready so I left the house and let him get to work. I got in my car and this was on my steering wheel.

Right away I got the clue that the theme was "4". It was super cute especially since our "4 months" would be exactly 4 days from Friday. (Which is today...go us!! We made it 1/3 of a year!!) I got home, and this was taped on the front door.

A four course meal that I didn't have to cook? YES PLEASE! It was delicious. This was the first course, bread with olive oil, Parmesan dip.

Second, chicken ceasar salad

Third course chicken tortallini.

After we ate dinner we played a game, CONNECT FOUR :) Then we took a walk to find our last course, dessert. We walked to G's dairy and had a ice cream cone. We walked back home and watched a movie... Free Willy FOUR :)

It was SUCH a fun date, I was SO impressed and cant wait to see what he comes up with for the next time he plans!

smeDELICIOUS

As I was browsing through blogs a couple weeks ago I found this super cute idea, a romance calender. Even though Chris and I have only been married about 4 months, sometimes we get busy with life and forget about those cute little things we used to do for each other....it happens to every one. We decided to make one, & its displayed in our room so we don't forget. This month doesn't have a ton of things because we will be out of town, but so far its been fun to do these small things for each other.

Here's an example of one of the days:

I hid my two love notes for Chris while he was at work. This one was under the toilet lid....no, that's not poop. IT'S ROCKS!

This one was in his hat.

Its a super fun idea, try it!!

Lava Hot Springs

I know I'm super late on this, but my computer has been at Best Buy for the past two weeks. A couple weekends ago we met Cassie and her family up Lava Hot Springs. We floated down the river on rafts, went back to their camp site where we played games, and then went to the pool where they have slides, diving platforms and a big pool. I was too scared to jump, but Chris & Cassie both did. FROM ALL 3 LEVELS! Here they are jumping from the very top one.

After we swam we went back to their camp and ate dinner. It was delicious. I loved seeing her and her family!

Oh so thankful Tuesdays...8/2

1) That JP won The Bachelorette. I liked that guy since the beginning, he deserved it. :) I can't wait until we find out who the next bachelor is. Woo-hoo!

2) H20. Water. Aqua. My favorite drink. Nothing is better than a cold glass of water!

3) Sales. Without sales, couponing wouldn't be all that is is. I love a great deal!

4) A good rain storm. We had one last night. Its soothing when you can sit and listen.

5) Cleaning. As much as I hate doing it, I love the ending result. Nothing is better than a clean house and clean clothes.

You're turn...
